You’ll forgive us for poking some fun at Autoweek’s “‘Artist’s rendering of the new Jaguar XQ SUV” (see it here) with our own sloppy cut-copy-paste of an older Jaguar XJ’s face on the new Range Rover, but we couldn’t really help ourselves from doing so…

But back to the real reason why we’re telling you all this, Autoweek says unnamed sources have confirmed that Jaguar will perform the world premiere of its first ever SUV model at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show this September.

The report doesn’t say if the British brand will display a concept, a pre-production study or the actual road-going model, slated to go on sale in late 2015, according to some sources, in 2016, according to others.

Possibly named the XQ or Q-Type, Jaguar’s SUV is said to be based on a new platform shared with the brand’s upcoming BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class fighter, the XS (see below for spy photos of the most recent test mule), sporting turbocharged inline four and supercharged V6 engines.
