Gentlemen, get your cheque books ready because Jaguar engineers are working on one of its most special family-orientated models ever; the XFR-S Sportbrake, which our spies nabbed testing just outside the Nürburgring track.

Jaguar’s chief designer Ian Callum, has confirmed on multiple occasions the brand’s commitment to introduce an “R” version of the new XF Sportbreak, powered by the same 503hp (510PS) 5.0-liter supercharged V8 as the XFR sedan.

The prototype we spotted in Germany was fitted with the same exact body kit as the limited edition 542hp (550PS) XFR-S sedan with a different front bumper and more prominent side skirts and rear diffuser.

While we haven’t heard anything about an XFR-S Sportbrake from the Indian-owned British company, Jaguar may be plotting an equally limited run as the sedan of which only 100 examples will be sold in the United States.

The XFR and XFR-S Sportbrake’s natural enemies are the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Estate and the Audi RS6 Avant.
