Classic Ferraris have been going for crazy prices at auctions in recent years, and more of them seem to be restored as we move on in time, despite the considerable associated costs and the high-rarity factor.

For most of these hand-beaten shapes, the incentive is of course the high likelihood of a good return on investment – the latter is the actual word Ferrari itself uses.

However, around the middle of August (16-17), another one will be going under the hammer for what many millions of dollars, yet this car, a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4*S N.A.R.T. Spider by Scaglietti, is family-owned from new and for a period in its early existence, it was even the very object of desire for Steve McQueen, as the fabled actor’s own 275 had been rear-ended and he was in search of a spare…

Usually, when it comes to these cars, we write down the most important bits in their history, the ones we find interesting and consider are worth passing on, but in this case we don’t have to. Petrolicious has just released a video, featuring the very car mentioned above, which goes into detail about how all 275 drop-tops came to be and why this particular one is a bit more special.
