A freaky accident with an impala jumping through the open window of a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV (note to self: if you ever go to a safari, keep all windows closed) to escape from a pair of hungry and extremely fast cheetahs, took place in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Not that we would ever want to share our car with a wild animal like an Impala, but it could have been much worse for the occupants of this Land Cruiser if one of the wild cats had decided to follow and corner the African antelope in the Japanese SUV…

Samantha Pittendrigh filmed the jump from an adjacent car. “We watched the cheetah chasing the impala. We saw a few of them turn around in the bushes towards the road they were running from,” she said, according to a report from Barcroft Media and the Telegraph.

“All of a sudden we saw the impala jump out of the bushes and then someone started screaming ‘it is in the car, it is in the car’. People in other cars screamed ‘open the door, open the door’,” added the 20 year old woman.

Pittendrigh said that one of the occupants of the SUV was able to open a door and let the impala go out without injuring itself or any of the passengers. From what we understand, the cheetahs were left without dinner.
