No, this isn’t your typical mobility scooter from Wal-Mart, and Richard Underwood, 28 and friends John McNeil, 30 and Dale Glover, 21, aren’t your usual modders. What these three gentleman from Garage Insanity have built is a worthy challenger to another insane creation, the Honda Mean Mower that we showed you on Wednesday.

Their goal was to create the world’s fastest mobility scooter and they are now looking forward to verifying the claim with the Guinness Book of Records on August 31.

Powering this highly modded mobility scooter is a 600cc engine from Suzuki GSX-600F motorbike, with Garage Insanity having recorded a super impressive 13.281 second 1/4 mile run at 101.8mph (163.8 km/h).

“[We] had a brief blast of a top speed run was estimated to be 125-ish mph. Maybe miscalculated the top speed as we still have 2 gears left. we reckon it will do closer to 160 [257km/h] if we had enough track,” Garage Insanity said on its Facebook page.

On their video channel, they have uploaded several runs against a number of cars including a 280-horsepower VW Golf Supercharged VR6 and a Nissan Skyline R33 GTS/t (250PS – 247hp).

Speaking to Yahoo Nws, Richard Underwood said: “The first time we raced the scooter was a few weeks ago at Ramsey Sprint, and when we turned up no one really thought much of us. Then, as soon as we started the engine, everyone loved it. We came third in our class, which was brilliant and the reaction from the crowds there was absolutely unbelievable.”
