Tesla set out from the very beginning to do things differently than other manufacturers, and prove that the established way of making a car can be challenged by a new model. This reflects in their only current product, the all-electric Model S (erroneously called a sedan), which is different yet has been showered with praise, their approach to sales and marketing, and of course the way in which the cars are built.

The Silicone Valley-based manufacturer launched a series of videos last year called Inside Tesla, which showcased their entire production scheme, with footage from inside the factory, from the stamping the panels out of rolls of metal, to final assembly and inspection. Now, Wired has taken a look at the inner workings of Tesla with a new video, which you will find posted below.

It also takes a shot at explaining the same process as Tesla’s own, but from a different perspective. Here, it is explained how the very sophisticated pre-programmed robots work in conjunction with the 3,000 or so workers currently taking part in the production process, and how everything has been seamlessly integrated.
