When surfing the internet for used cars, you never know where the digital tide will take you, as you jump from one brand and car to another, and before you know it, while you started looking up for low-cost NSXs, you end up goggling coupes turned into pickup trucks of sorts like this 1971 BMW 1600-2 (later named 1602).

The two-seater model with the rather useless truck-bed behind, especially since it forgoes the traditional lift-gate, comes with an engine transplant from another (unnamed) BMW, as the owner swapped the 1.6-liter inline four for a 2.5-liter inline-six (probably with around 170hp).

A five-speed manual linked to a limited slip differential, drives the rear wheels, while other notable upgrades and additions noted in the sales slip include “Jaguar brakes”, E36 M3 “Darth Vader” style bucket seats, and a custom roll bar.

The custom BMW 1600-2 pickup truck is listed for sale by Cars Dawydiak in San Francisco for $14,700.

Update: The same bimmer was put up for sale last year on eBay
