There are lots of specialized shops out there working on and dealing in a particular kind of car make or style, or even more focused operations which only handle a single model, or a very limited selection. Maier Racing falls into the latter category, and their specialty are Mustangs.

Drive’s Big Muscle show just released a new episode which showcases the inner workings and the story behind the shop, and explains why there aren’t many like it. Of course, it can all be attributed to its rich family-owned history and sheer passion, but those two aspects alone don’t mold carbon fiber or fiberglass, nor do they make in-house suspension components and other unique mods.

Unlike many other shops, regardless of their level of specialization, Maier Racing does pretty much all body, chassis and suspension work within the confines of their own business, so this makes their creations very unique.

In the video, show host Mike Musto tries his hand at driving one of these unique pro-touring ‘Stangs built up by the shop, and predictably it’s a very well-sorted machine with performance on par with any modern sports car, plus the added bonus of the classic looks and V8 burble.
