For most people who can afford it, the 544hp Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6 is powerful and exclusive enough. Nevertheless, since there is always room for more, the folks at Brabus set out to improve the extreme six-wheeled off-roader. And unlike Dartz Motorz, Brabus actually modified a real G 63 AMG 6×6 and changed its name to B63S–700 6×6.
The 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged AMG V8 engine has been tuned to develop 154hp (156PS) more than the standard unit, bringing output to 690 hp (700PS). Torque also increased by 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) to 960 Nm (708 lb-ft), available between 2,000 rpm and 4,500 rpm. Brabus squeezed extra performance from the engine by replacing the production turbochargers with Brabus turbochargers with larger compressor unit and higher boost pressure and by fitting a new exhaust system.
These modifications allow the Brabus B63S-700 to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.4 seconds (remember, it weighs little under 4 tons…) and to reach an electronically-limited top speed of just 160 km/h (99 mph) – because of the heavy-duty off-road tires.
Brabus also worked on the truck’s styling, with chrome and carbon-fiber dominating the exterior, while on the inside passengers are welcome by a fiery red Mastik leather/Alcantara cabin. Compared to the standard AMG model, the Brabus version gains a hood scoop, dark-tinted LED lights, carbon fiber mirror caps and others.
The cabin has a striking aspect due to the red Mastik leather that contrasts with the stainless-steel scuff plates featuring backlit Brabus logo and the aluminum pedals.
The Brabus B63S-700 6×6 will have its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
