The new-shape Chevrolet Spark is a far cry from what the world thought of as a Spark/Matiz just a few years ago (prior to it being launched). Gone are the awkward kei car dimensions, and in their place we have a modern supermini with funky design and European appeal.

There’s even the all-electric Spark EV which not only promises no tailpipe emissions, but also strong performance – Consumer Reports praised it for its performance, and called it the best Spark you can buy. Now, CNET has done its own review of the model, from their usual tech-oriented perspective.

Their view was a more critical one, though, the overall impression was still positive overall, and the vehicle is recommended to buyers at the end of the video. The slight styling changes are also noted, as are the unique alloy wheels, and the configurable digital instrument cluster which looks and operates very similarly to that of the larger Volt.

Bad points were given for some of the cheap-feeling plastics found inside, and the ride was also reportedly not among the best, though still bearably adequate according to the reviewer.
