The Qoros 3 Sedan has been awarded 5 stars in EuroNCAP’s most recent safety tests, thus becoming the first car developed in China to get the maximum rating. Furthermore, the compact model received the highest overall score so far in 2013.

The small family model, which showed good overall protection with high scores in all four areas of assessment, represents a major leap forward compared to previous Chinese cars tested by the European safety organization.

According to the testers, the Qoros 3 Sedan scored the best result for Adult Occupant Protection in Euro NCAP’s 2013 program so far, while its safety passenger cell proved to be “extremely robust” in front-end, side impact and pole impact collisions.

The Chinese-Israeli company’s first production car received a score of 95 percent for protection of adult occupants, 87 percent for child occupants, 77 percent for pedestrians and an 81 percent rating for safety assistance systems offered as standard equipment. These results will be no doubt a major boost for the company, which prepares for the commercial launch of the car in Europe.

The Qoros 3 Sedan’s results become even more impressive when compared to that of the new Kia Carens MPV, which was tested during the same session. The Korean car was also awarded with a five star rating overall, but was outmatched by the Chinese model on all aspects (bar safety assist, where the two cars got the same score).

The Kia was awarded a score of 94 percent for adult occupant protection, 76 percent for child occupants, 64 percent for pedestrians and 81 percent for safety assist.
