I’ve always wondered how many modern day wagon/estate buyers justify their choice by the actual need for extra carrying capacity, and how many go for one because of the cool factor associated with them (you know which ones we mean), especially in the US, where they are nowhere near as common as in Europe, and there are still those who label them as oddball creations.

What Americans need then is a Euro-style wagon that boasts a local badge and is also based on an already competent sedan – that’s where the bigger version of the new Cadillac CTS comes in – albeit just an independent render for now, as GM seems unsure what to do in terms of additional body styles.

In this interpretation at least, it looks like a CTS crossed with a Mercedes-Benz E-Class, arguably still one of the most iconic and timeless such shapes that the market has had to offer – even the latest model retains many visual cues from older generations that don’t easily allow you to confuse it with anything else.

Cadillac is relatively new at making load-luggers, and if the previous-gen CTS wagon was anything to go by, it’s clear that they can at least make it look good and stylish (which they did, I think, especially in ‘-V’ trim).

Check out the rendering for yourself, and tell us if you think this shape of CTS estate is something you’d realistically see on the road, and would like to put your money on.
