Mercedes-Benz engineers working on the upcoming W205-codenamed C-Class have their hands full, as the Stuttgart company is preparing a raft of body styles and versions for the series, including a traditional sedan, a coupe, a convertible and the Wagon, otherwise known as the T-Model in some markets, which our spies photographed for the first time.

We’ll need to wait for less heavily disguised examples to get a better view of specific design cues, but the shape of the C-Class Wagon follows the lines of other estate models from Mercedes, which means the emphasis is in on space and practicality rather than style.

The C-Class Wagon will ride on Benz’s new and bigger MRA (modular rear-drive architecture) platform, improving passenger and luggage space while also reducing weight.

The engine line-up will be dominated by turbocharged inline-fours consuming diesel or gasoline fuel, along with bigger V6s, and for the first time, hybrid powertrains as well. An AMG version could be in the cards for Europe.

Prices are expected to rise marginally when the car begins to arrive in markets late next year or early 2015.
