BMW employees seem to be enjoying the last weeks of warm weather here in the East Coast before fall comes in earnest to warn us about the dreaded winter in these parts of the world, by driving around a faintly camouflaged 4-Series Convertible with its metal top folded in the boot.

These scoop photos come courtesy of Carscoops reader Frank who told us the following:

“While sitting in traffic in Paramus, NJ, not far from the BMW N/A HQ, the 4-series convertible roles up right next to me. Nothing that we haven’t seen already I guess, but just thought you may be interested. The car itself definitely reads bigger now; not huge, but closer to an A5,” said Frank.

We’re always interested in scoop pictures Frank and thank you for sending them our way.

As for the car itself, it’s due for a fall introduction, which means we could see it making its world premiere at the 2013 edition of the Los Angeles Auto Show in late November.

When it goes on sale in North America next year, it will be offered with the same turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four and 3.0-liter straight-six gasoline units as the new 4-Series Coupe. In Europe, it will get a more extensive engine range including diesel options.

Thanks to Frank for the scoop shoot!
