Talk about instant justice… A Brazilian motorcyclist riding his white Honda Hornet on the roads of São Paulo this past Sunday was ambushed by a pair of thugs on another bike, with one of them pointing a gun on his face before hijacking his ride.

However, the thief didn’t even manage to turn the bike around, as an off-duty police officer who happened to be passing by, jumped out of his car and shot down the criminal.

It all happened rather fast and you’ll probably have to watch the footage shot from the victim’s helmet-mounted camera more than once to see exactly what went on.

According to Brazilian media reports, the officer, who was in uniform and was returning home, fired twice, with one of the bullets striking the thief, identified as Leonardo Escarante Santos, 18, in his abdomen. The thief was transferred to the hospital and will be treated for non-life threatening injuries before heading to court. His accomplice sped away, with police still trying to track him down.

Speaking to Brazil’s G1, the unnamed 35-year old victim said: “I lucked out to have a police officer there at the time and well positioned”.
