In a few months’ time, the third generation Volkswagen Scirocco will enter its sixth year of production, making it ripe for a replacement. Yet, the Germans are reportedly going to wait it out for until late 2015, with the Volkswagen Group’s head of design Walter de Silva having said that the new model will be a completely different beast – and one that might (finally) be sold in North America.

These introduction dates are not always set on stone, of course, and we could see VW presenting a new model earlier or later than 2015.

In the case that the Germans extend the current model’s life, then we could see a facelift for the Scirocco, which brings us to this Photoshop made by Remco Meulendijk.

The designer proposes a light makeover with small but visible changes, with the Scirocco adopting the newer Golf Mk7’s edgier-looking lights and slim grille, along with a Golf GTI-style front bumper and a different set of tail lamps. What do you say about the facelift proposal?
