Coming soon to Mercedes-Benz’s freshened lineup is the new, second generation GLK luxury crossover. While we have spied it before, this time, our man with the stretched lens sneaked up to a tester and for the first time, captured photos of its interior.

If you’ve seen the official imagery of the upcoming 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Classif you haven’t, click here – you will immediately notice the similarities in the design and layout, from the three-spoke steering wheel and deeply recessed instrument panel gauges, to the HVAC controls and the absence of the traditional auto shifter.

As with the new C-Class, with which the next GLK is mechanically related to, the SUV will come with a 7- or an optional 8.4-inch screen with the COMAND Online package hooked on the top of the center console. Overall, the design of the dashboard is a welcome change over the timeworn current model.

On the outside, Mercedes seems to have abandoned the first GLK’s overly square lines for a more streamlined and stylish body that will grow in size to better accommodate passengers and their luggage.

The entire engine lineup will be shared with the new C–Class, including gasoline, diesel and possibly even hybrid powerplants, with the next GLK also benefitting from the same weight savings as its sedan brethren for improved performance and fuel economy.
