One of Jay Leno’s most absurdly-interesting modified cars is a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado that originally came with front-wheel drive and around 400 hp. Leno lifted the body from the chassis, then made a new one with rear-wheel drive and lowered the shell back onto it.

With the swap also came a new 1,076 hp engine based on the one used in the Cadillac CTS-V racing program, employing the use of its aluminum block and cylinder head plus two turbochargers and an intercooler for good measure.

The car was so impressive to two of the Gran Turismo developers that came to the garage to check out the collection, so much so that they recreated it in the new game – even GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi had a fondness for it and spoke of its capabilities.

Check all of that out, with Leno as the narrator, then watch him drive the digitalized Toronado in the game and make remarks about its realism and handling.
