If you thought the newly created Formula E all-electric racing series lacked the prestige of the more established championships, as it did not have enough very public figures involved in its midst, the announcement that Oscar-nominated actor Leonardo DiCaprio is joining forces with Venturi in their own quest to get a place on the grid for 2014.

DiCaprio was quoted as saying, “The future of our planet depends on our ability to embrace fuel-efficient, clean-energy vehicles,” to which he added that “Venturi Grand Prix has shown tremendous foresight in their decision to create an environmentally friendly racing team, and I am happy to be a part of this effort.”

That and his face associated with Formula E having a strong positive effect on its popularity, and at least he didn’t go all weird and ridiculous on us with his image, like Nicolas Cage did when he appeared in some dreadfully bad Chinese car commercials… Granted, they were all better than his movie Ghost Rider 2.

In addition, the video posted below is the latest one from the official Formula E channel, not included in our previous post – it’s about wireless charging and its implications in the racing series.
