There are many ways in which you can modify a Jaguar E-Type to suit your needs. You can even make it longer to grant the interior more space, and it still won’t ruin the timeless look – if anything, the extra inches make it look even sleeker.

However, Jason Len of XKs Unlimited is fond of racing classics, so his transformation of a regular 1964 coupe into a lightweight race-spec machine is one that should definitely grab your attention, if only for how clean and period it looks; he says it also goes pretty well on the road.

The owner admits that the modified straight-six it still uses is not the most powerful unit to begin with, but with its current state of tune it’s plenty-powerful and also highly reliable.

Power is fed to the wheels via an adapted racing gearbox and a magnesium differential at the back – this is a car that’s meant to be regularly raced and take a bit of a beating.
