Chris Harris’ comparison tests usually yield some kind of worthwhile conclusions, but this latest one, involving the Jaguar XFR-S, Mercedes E63 AMG and BMW M6 Gran Coupe, has no such thing.

It won’t necessarily help you decide which of these V8-powered super-saloons (or sedans) you’d rather buy either; that decision is left up to you to make after you’ve driven them all yourself.

Out of the three, the Jaguar is definitely the oldest and slowest, and we know this even before Harris says one word, be it good or bad about it. It’s still an excellent car to drift, as per this review, but its electronically-actuated rear differential overheats and doesn’t allow for too much of that…

It already lost to the Merc once before…

The Mercedes is to me the most desirable of the three, given that it does exactly what you’d expect a 580+ hp E-Class to do. However, despite being up on power and down on weight compared to the M6, it’s the latter that annihilates in the staged drag race.
