If you wanted a badass, full-size truck with plenty of go and character, plus the reassurance of an official dealer, your only real option up until now has been Ford’s monstrous 411hp F-150 SVT Raptor. Neither Chrysler with the Ram 1500 nor GM with its Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra have bothered to create a real rival to the Blue Oval’s fun-packed truck. Here’s where the new 2014 Chevrolet Reaper steps in.

While not an official Chevrolet product, it could be close enough to make consumers consider it in the sense that, it has been developed by Lingenfelter Performance, a tuning company known for its GM upgrades, and Southern Comfort Automotive that sells specialty vehicles, and will be offered through select Chevrolet dealers.

What we know about the Reaper is that it will come in a base version with a Lingenfelter supercharger and engine tuning that should give the factory 420hp 6.2-liter V8 a significant bump, 17-inch Beadlock wheelk with off-road tires and a special graphic wrap.

If you’re looking for the full package, there’s an array of optional features to give the Reaper a more distinct and rugged look and feel, including new bumpers, a different hood that touches a protruding front grille, huge 20-inch wheels shod in 33-inch off road rubber, sports exhaust, performance suspension, rock guards, side steps and custom interior.

We still don’t know what the cost will be for the Reaper, but we’ll share as soon as we find out.
