We had a hunch it was coming and now we have actual proof that Opel and sister company Vauxhall are preparing a production version of the Adam inspired by the Rocks study displayed at least year’s Geneva Auto Show.

It would be misleading to describe this edition of the Adam as a cabriolet or a convertible, because just like the concept, Opel merely cut out the inner metal section of the roof and replaced it with a fabric top that rolls back, all while keeping the hatchback’s roof arches and tailgate intact. However, judging from Fiat with its 500C and Citroen with the DS3 Cabrio, Opel will likely follow their example and call it a Cabrio

As you can see from the spy pictures, the Rocks’ crossover flavored body trim and ride height didn’t make the cut, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Opel did offer a similar edition down the line.

All powertrain options from the closed-top hatch will be carried over to the Adam “Cabrio”, including a new 113hp (115PS) 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline unit.

If we don’t meet up with the new Adam Cabrio at the Geneva Motor Show in March, then we should see it at the Paris auto show in October.
