Police from the of town of St-Jérôme, north of Montreal in Canada, had their hands full in the early morning hours of Friday after three men in an older generation Lexus GS sedan tried to make a run for it leading to a high speed chase.

Quebec provincial police stated that the incident began at around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, when an officer pulled over a suspicious vehicle with three men inside. The cop mentioned that he could smell marijuana and asked the driver to step outside the car.

However, the man behind the wheel of the Lexus had other plans and took off. At least a half a dozen patrol cars were involved in the chase that lasted around 30 minutes with the perpetrator said to have reached speeds of up to 160km/h (100mph), while also successfully dodging spiked mats twice.

A cameraman from Radio-Canada, CBC’s French Service, was positioned at the right spot at the right time, capturing the moment that the unidentified driver waved his hands out the window and surrender. Watch the video below.
