Alfa Romeo has introduced two new engine versions in Italy for the Giulietta MY2014 and MiTo MY2014.

The Giulietta gets a new 2.0-liter JDTM turbodiesel unit producing 175PS (173hp), in combination with the 6-speed double-clutch TCT gearbox. Available only for the Distinctive and Exclusive top trim levels, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta with the new engine is priced from €30,450 ($41,745) and €31,900 ($43,730), respectively.

The new diesel engine features the third generation common rail injection system and a small turbocharger. Peak torque is 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) at 1,750 rpm, allowing the Giulietta to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.8 seconds and to reach a top speed of 219 km/h (136 mph). Average fuel economy is 4.4 l/100 km (53.4 mpg US), while CO2 emissions are rated at 116 g/km.

The Alfa Romeo MiTo also gets a new engine version, the 140PS (138hp) 1.4-liter MultiAir TBi, combined with the Alfa TCT. The engine is only available for the Distinctive trim level and is priced from €21,100 ($28,945). With the new unit, the MiTo sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.1 seconds and hits 209 km/h (130 mph). Combined fuel consumption is 5.4 l/100 km (43.5 mpg US), with CO2 emissions of 124 g/km.
