Not all cool new concepts show at the Geneva motor show will have four wheels, or three, or any, for that matter, as some are looking way into the future, previewing vehicle types and construction methods that will become the mainstay decades from now.

The engineering and design firm EDAG will be showcasing “a futuristic vehicle sculpture” called the Genesis that was built in an unconventional way.

Based on “the bionic patterns of a turtle” (something that’s apparent in the plate-like design of the body, behind the driver/pilot/rider. It doesn’t just copy the shape and look of the shelled reptile, but it also adopts the functional purpose that the similar plates have naturally – to protect vulnerable parts from outside forces.

The Genesis was built as a one-piece design through additive manufacturing (3D printing), which is the only really way to achieve one massive seamless piece. Aside from construction, it doesn’t preview anything in particular, and yet its futuristic shape will definitely look good in the live photo sets from the upcoming auto salon; only the one photo has been released so far.
