In case you didn’t notice already, the vast majority of carmakers active in India are concentrating their efforts on the sub-4 meter small car category, and especially five door hatchbacks, sedans, and crossovers.

Italy’s Fiat currently sells two lines of models in India, the Punto hatch and the Linea saloon, but at the Delhi Auto Expo, it presented a concept for another model, albeit one based on the Punto: the Avventura.

Similar, if not identical in philosophy to the VW Cross Polo, the Avventura adds a 200mm ground clearance along with SUV-inspired body cladding complete with skid plates and a tail-gate-mounted spare wheel, plus a redesigned front end to the Punto’s hatchback form.

The car also rides on different wheels and has a re-trimmed interior with color-matching accents and a new set of gauges on the upper side of the center console.

Fiat didn’t say if and what kind of plans it has for the Avventura.
