The Mercedes-Benz SLS has one of the longest hoods of any sports car one can buy today, and the Germans want to keep that same kind of look in their smaller upcoming model, which will be called either the AMG GT or the SLC.

I’ve seen the spyshots and also Mercedes’ latest design and styling language, and I think Quattroruote magazine’s rendering is really rather accurate.

Set to make its official debut within the next year, the coupe would start around the $100,000 mark, making for a promising rival for mid-spec Porsche 911s or Audi R8s.

Power for it is expected to come from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8; gone will be the amazing naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter unit found in the current SLS. However, since it will be turbocharged, the output will be varied from version to version but should exceed 500 hp in Black Edition models.

What you see below are the spy shots of the car.
