French carmaker Peugeot will bring 28 production and concept cars to the Geneva Motor Show next month, including the world premieres of the 108 city car in three-door, five-door and TOP! Cabrio (not a true convertible, but a large canvas roof that rolls back) forms, plus the 308 Station Wagon.
Peugeot says that, the two new models “signal the start of the next phase in the revamp of the Brand’s entire range, which is already the youngest in its long history”. The two production cars will be joined by the 2008 HYbrid Air and 308 R concepts, both of which were displayed at last year’s Frankfurt motor show.
In addition to actual vehicles, Peugeot’s stand will include the premiere of two new engine lineups, the PureTech e-THP three-cylinder turbocharged petrol and the BlueHDi diesel.
The 1.2-liter PureTech gasoline unit that will be available on the new 108 with 82PS (81hp) gains two more editions delivering 110PS (108hp) and 130PS (128hp) – the latter could make a GTi version out of the 108. According to Peugeot, “these engines deliver the best low speed torque/maximum power in the market, with 95% available between 1,500 and 3,500rpm”.
The BlueHDi diesel emissions technology uniquely associates Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and a particulate filter with additive to reduce NOx emissions by up to 90 percent, while also improving fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Peugeot says it will roll out the system on several diesel-engine versions of the 308, 308 SW and 508.
