Skoda has announced that the world premiere of the new Octavia Scout will take place at the Geneva Motor Show next month, with the Czech carmaker also releasing the first photos of the new model.

Just like its predecessors, the new Octavia Scout combines off-road looks and all-wheel drive technology. However, Skoda says traction, climbing and start-up performance have significantly improved.

Based on the Octavia Combi, the Scout features front and rear bumpers with silver-and black colored off-road attachments, a wide air intake at the front and embossed fog lights. The door sills and wheel arches are also in black paneling, in addition to the black protective side moldings.

Rounding out the styling changes, the Scout comes equipped with standard 17-inch alloy wheels, while the interior features a 3-spoke multi-function leather steering wheel and “attractive features, designed especially for the Scout.”

To make it capable off-road, Skoda has increased the ground clearance of the Octavia Scout by 33mm (1.3in) compared to the standard Octavia. The new Octavia Scout also features all-wheel drive technology based on the Haldex-5 coupling. Skoda says the traction has increased by 25 percent to up to two tonnes, while start-up performance and climbing power have significantly improved.

The new Octavia Scout has larger approach/departure angles, thus being able to navigate on steeper, more challenging terrain. The model will be offered with a choice of two diesel engines and one petrol, all up to 20 percent more economical than the units from the previous Octavia Scout.

More details will be released close to the car’s Geneva debut.
