“Hej vacker” – that’s “hello beautiful” in Swedish, I think…and it applies to Volvo’s third consecutive concept model based on their new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform.

Seen for the first time in these leaked photos, courtesy of Jalopnik, the Swedes call their newest creation the Concept Estate, but in my eyes, a Shooting Brake moniker would have been more appropriate.

In essence, it’s a different body style of last year’s stunning Coupe Concept, featuring a full length roof housing a large glass pane and ending with a traditional tailgate. In other words, it’s to the Coupe Concept, what the classic 1800ES was to the P1800 back in the 1970s.

Volvo also made some updates to the more spacious in the rear interior that gains new colors and materials.

For now, both the Coupe and Estate Concepts are just that; conceptual studies made to get the word around about Volvo’s new design language that will first appear on the next XC90 SUV, but does anyone else think that it would be a shame if these two models don’t get the green light for production?

Ed. Note: Our European spy with a thousand eyes, Andreas, tells me that, “Hej vacker is not correct Swedish” and “Hej snygging (Hi gorgeous) or “Hej din vackra skapelse” (Hello you beautiful thing)” work better. Just so you know.
