There’s no question if we’re interested in Volvo’s mysterious new concept car, but that won’t be the only world premiere at the Swedish brand’s Geneva auto show booth next month, as the automaker will also debut a series of Ocean Race Edition models, including the V40 hatch, V40 Cross Country, V60, XC60, V70 and XC70.

Volvo says these new special editions celebrate the fortieth anniversary from the completion of the first sailing race in 1974. The 2014-2015 season of the Volvo Ocean Race will start on October 4, 2014 and finish with on June 27, 2015 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The V40 and V60 series Ocean Race Edition models are available in four colors named Ocean Blue II, Bright Silver, Black Sapphire and Crystal White, and sport 17-inch (V40 and V40 Cross Country) and 18-inch (V60 and XC60) “Portunus” alloy wheels. Also included in the package is an identification plaque on the tread plates and front fenders, while interior upgrades concern the black or blond leather upholstery with orange stitching and unique décor.

In the case of the V70 estate and its crossover counterpart, the XC70, the two cars feature several high gloss black details, including the ribs in the grille, the rear-view mirror caps, the side window frames and parts of the tailgate, plus 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels.

“We have added a dynamic look and feel to the V70 and XC70. This includes a number of exterior and interior design features. The driver appeal is enhanced with a lowered chassis on the V70, and it is also the first time ever that the XC70 can be equipped with a dynamic chassis,” said Anders H Gustavsson, Vice President Special Vehicles at Volvo Car Group.

According to Volvo, production of the Volvo Ocean Race Edition cars will kick off this spring, with the brand expecting to sell more than 16,000 units during 2014 and 2015.
