Aston Martin’s partnership with AMG will grant the British manufacturer access to some of the best engines they could have ever hoped to lay their hands on, units far more modern than anything they currently have, most with a lot more power too.

However, while future Astons have been confirmed to use AMG powerplants, this aspect will not be mentioned in any way on the car’s exterior (through badging, we mean). Autocar says it was Mercedes boss Dieter Zetsche who ruled it out, and it’s not only limited to the visible outside, but the engine will be lacking the AMG markings too…

Zetche told the British publication last week that, “A subtle involvement with Aston Martin is better for us. Our customers will know about it without us making too much of the link. That is enough for us.”

In regards to which engines will be used, Zetche explained that it has not been decided yet, but that it’s up to Aston Martin to decide which powerplants they go for. In his words: “It is up to Aston Martin to make specific product plans. We have only just agreed a deal in which we announced we would share engines and electrical components.”
