Did you hear about Autoblog.com’s discovery on the pricing for the 2015 Jeep Renegade that shows up on Google Search? Well, it’s not true as the description that pops under the title and reads “MSRP * Starting At $18,595 Price as shown $25,895” refers to the 2014 Compass, not the upcoming Renegade.

How did we find out? Well, without plunging into deep technical details, we surfed through Jeep’s Renegade dedicated online page and found the code snippet that applies to the prices and which we screen-printed for proof (see below).

Besides matching what Jeep’s asking for the Compass on its very own page, the pricing data clearly states it’s from / for the Compass. In the same page, you’ll also find all starting prices for the rest of the range.

If you’re wondering, the reason why it shows up on Google search when you type, for example, “2015 Jeep Renegade starting from”, is that the Compass’ pricing data appears first in the file and that’s what Google’s indexing machine picks up and lists on search. In order for the prices to go away from search, Jeep will need to hide (through coding) all pricing data.
