The racetrack does not come often on top of the list of places to test a wagon. But when the estate is a V8-powered monster with more than 500 horsepower, the track can be taken into account.

With 552hp (560PS) from a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, the Audi RS6 Avant is not your average wagon. Thanks to the powertrain and the Quattro all-wheel drive system, it sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

But in the UK there’s an even more powerful and wild wagon available, the Vauxhall VXR8 Supercharged: it has 610 horsepower from a naturally aspirated force-fed 6.2-liter V8 and it’s rear-wheel drive.

Obviously, the two super wagons have pretty different characters, as EVO’s Richard Meaden discovered when driving both on track.
