The One:1 is not only Koenigsegg’s, but the world’s fastest production car as well, or it will be as soon as somebody keeps the throttle buried for long enough. Expect to see that happening sometime in or after April, when the car will also debut in China, at the Beijing auto show.

The company has put a lot of work into the car, as Christian von Koenigsegg explains in the Drive video posted below, only just getting it finished in time for its Geneva debut last month.

Being a cutting edge new product, it would not have happened at all, had it not been for 3D printing. The technique was used to create the turbocharger housings, for instance, or the one-piece titanium exhaust.

All is done in the interest of saving weight, though the finished product will not be as Spartan as you might thing – it will have electric windows, radio and other amenities you may not have expected to find. At some point in the future, after we get used to the idea of 1 hp/kg, they’ll rip everything out and make it even lighter…
