Ford has revealed and detailed its latest generation of F650/F750 trucks that are more efficient, ride on new upfit-friendly chassis and come with the promise of having thoroughly tested.

In fact, the testing bit actually pops up a lot in the official text, emphasized through repeated use of the word “tough” (a quick search shows it appears nine times on the press release page, only three of which were part of “Built Ford Tough”).

Come spring 2014, the Blue Oval wants to keep itself ahead of the commercial pack, so its launching the new range in three cab styles (Regular Cab, Super Cab and Crew Cab) and three variants: straight frame, dock height and an all-new dedicated tractor model for heavy towing.

A new engine is also on offer, in the form of a 6.7-liter PowerStroke V8 diesel that is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, a 6.8-liter V10 petrol engine can be specified too, and be prepped to run on (harmfully-obtained) compressed natural or liquid propane gas.

Also new is the styling, which the manufacturer says lends itself well to practicality too. The tech front gets an update too, the Intelligent Oil Change Monitoring that is now standard-fit – it calculates intervals based on actual usage.
