While the purchase of new supercars in Dubai, in order to add them to the opulent police force is about as clever as a painting one’s jewels red and blue and doing the helicopter, the LAPD’s latest acquisition, also a supercar, is a more reasonable proposition.

The car you see here, was not purchased by the police department of Los Angeles, being donated instead by fiber optics company owners, Nathale and Travis Marg.

As you may notice, it’s the first ever Gallardo, with no styling tweaks whatsoever, so it’s quite old. This puts it in the realm of feasibly expensive cars that actual people can fathom buying, so it’s just as good to have as any new car costing around $90,000.

However, it doesn’t appear to be in plan for actual high-speed chase duty, adopting the role of tourist attraction just like the cars in Dubai; at least in Italy where these are also in use, they make full use of its performance… before they crash, of course.
