BMW has come in to cater to those drivers who take their cars to the racetrack with the introduction of the iPhone-exclusive app called “M Laptimer.” It’s a new concept, and the Bavarians are still at it promoting the app, thus enlisting the help of factory touring car driver Andy Priaulx.

The Brit is featured in a short new video featuring the new M4 Coupe being driven around the Brands Hatch circuit, in Kent, England.

The app records all parameters of a lap that are worth analyzing afterward, in order to improve future performance. It’s not for everybody, but those who are more serious about racing may find it a valuable tool.

Anybody can download it from the online Apple store, but if you look at the comments, you’ll notice that it not yet a perfect product, and some users are complaining of crashes and not perfect compatibility with their vehicle.
