The rumors about Nissan picking next month’s 2014 New York Auto Show as the event of choice for the world premiere of the new generation Murano crossover were true, with the Japanese firm confirming the debut today through a short statement and the release of a darkened teaser image and video.

“As the halo vehicle for Nissan’s expanding range of bold crossovers and SUVs, the Murano previews a new Nissan design language for future Nissan production vehicles,” said the automaker. “Along with its innovative styling, the all-new 2015 Nissan Murano features a spacious, premium interior and advanced, purposeful safety and connective technology.”

The teasers, as well as camouflaged prototypes, suggest that the next Murano will have a similar, but not as near exotic and futuristic look as the Resonance concept displayed at the 2013 Detroit motor show.

Below you will find the print screens we made from Nissan’s video and further down, our “Future Car” rendering of what we think the final product will look like as well as images of the Resonance concept.
