The C7 generation of the Audi A6 series has been around since November of 2010, meaning that a facelift is on the horizon for the regular models, and possibly for the RS6 Avant as well, even if it was introduced just last year.

A light revamp is what our spies believe may be hiding beneath the black and white covers of this RS6 Avant prototype, but we have another plausible scenario in mind: could this be an early tester for the more powerful RS6 Avant Plus that was confirmed by none other than Stephan Reil, chief of Audi’s quattro GmbH division?

We didn’t notice any changes on the visible sections of this specific prototype over the current model, so we’re not entirely sure which of the two scenarios may hold true.

For what it’s worth, in an interview last year, Reil had said that the RS6 Avant Plus edition should get an “8 to 10 percent” increase in, power pointing towards the 600hp mark, in order to get buyers “to notice it”.

In standard form, the RS6 Avant 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 pushes out 552hp (560PS) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque for a 0-100km/h (62mph) run in a supercar-challenging time of 3.9 seconds.
