A study only by name, Alfa Romeo’s new 4C Spider Concept from the ongoing Geneva Motor Show is a precursor of the production model that will join the coupe next year.

It has a removable lightweight canvas top and carbon fiber rollover bars that all add around 60kg (132lbs) to the car’s weight that still hovers under a ton at 955kg or 2,105lbs. Oh, and did I mention that Alfa redesigned the headlamps?

Yes, one of the most criticized points of the 4C Coupe has been addressed with the replacement of the fly/spider/(insert whatever other insect you want here) style eyes with newly designed units, more akin to what you see on modern sports cars like the Ferrari California T.

Before you go take a closer look at the photos and tell us if Alfa did good or not and whether you prefer this design for the coupe as well, let me add that Alfa also played around with a new set of rims size 18-inches up front and 19-inches at the back, and fitted the Spider with an experimental, dual-stage central exhaust system with titanium and carbon tailpipes by Akrapovic.
