We all know that products (and people) tend to look different in glossy pictures as opposed to real life, so it’s always wise to reserve a final opinion until you see them in the flesh.

One person who wasn’t as enthusiastic about the looks of the new 2015 Jeep Renegade after seeing it parked in an apartment complex parking lot somewhere in Michigan, was JeepRenegadeForum member ’minibouncer’, who wrote:

“At first I LOVED the renegade, but after seeing it in person, they REALLY need to trim up the side and front of the vehicle! There’s tons of unnecessary material in my opinion. The doors are HUGE and look like they are made of flimsy plastic. Is this a body kit??? Also, the roof did NOT have the removable top option. It was stick shift. Rear disc brakes. Vehicle sits lower than I thought it would. I guess I’ll have to wait and see the final touched up versions that hit the dealerships.

Evidently, the black Renegade captured on camera is not a final production car but a regional tester.

European sales of the new Renegade, which was officially revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March, are expected to begin late this year, while the small crossover should arrive in U.S. and Canadian showrooms during the first half of 2015.

Jeep has already confirmed the availability of two gasoline powertrains for North America, a 160hp 1.4-liter turbo linked to a six-speed manual and a 184hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder connected to a nine-speed automatic.
