BMW has created quite a dilemma for those looking to get into one of its six-cylinder turbo coupes with the launch of the M235i, which seems to be much closer to the 435i than the older 135i Coupe was to the 335i Coupe.

The M235i has a 320hp 3.0-liter straight-six turbo and weighs in at 3,505 lbs (1,589 kg) with the 6sp manual, and 3,535 lbs (1,603 kg) with the 8sp automatic, returning a 0-60mph (96km/h) time of 4.9 seconds and 4.9 seconds with each transmission respectively.

The longer, wider but shorter in height, 435i Coupe makes do with a 300hp 3.0-liter six turbo. It tips the scales at 3,580 lbs (1,623 kg) and completes the standard sprint to 60mph in 5.3 seconds in manual gearbox guise, with the automatic weighing 3,610 lbs (1,637 kg) and returning a time of 5.0 seconds.

The following video shows the two cars accelerating from 0 to 250km/h (155mph).
