The BMW X5 is a car of this age, for people with a bit of cash saved up in the bank and a moderately sized family that needs to be taken places. Consumer Reports recently got their hands on their very own X5, equipped with the base six-cylinder engine, which set them back just over $70,000.
Drawing pretty much the same conclusions we did when we tried out a base diesel X5, the review focuses on the car’s character and how it’s changed in comparison to previous versions.
Firstly, the reviewer notes the much improved ride this new model has over its predecessor, as well as the general feeling of luxury and being wafted along, instead of being at the wheel of a sporty saloon.
It still feels like a BMW, but the kind of dead steering and the massive inertia stand in the way of it called ‘fun to drive’.
