After all the global showings over the past few months, the next move for BMW and its new M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe models is to give the green light for press reviews and begin shipping cars to new owners. I have yet to read a test of the M3/4 models (if you have, do share), but today, one of our readers directed us to Bimmerpost where we learned that the first (or one of the first) M3s arrived in the hands of its happy owner.

Reader Kevin T. tells us: “Check this one out guys. First F80 M3 delivered 2 months before the retail launch date and before even the first press drives. Lucky SOB somehow got his Abu Dhabi dealer to release his car couple of months early hah!”

Well Kevin, I think the new owner’s forum posting under the nickname “uae247” gives an idea on how he might have been able to get the car so early – he traded it in for an M6, and, possibly among other vehicles, already owns a 1M Coupe and an E90 M3 Sedan.

His first impressions? “This car drives awesome,” wrote uae247. “It is so much lighter and the sound is just amazing. It is classic bmw inline 6 with a twist. It feels so nimble and fun, especially after the M6. I still have my E90 M3 6 speed, but this feels so refined and torquy. I was thinking to get a 6mt, especially after being bored to death in the M6, but right now it feels like the perfect choice,” he said.

A few other things he mentioned are:

– “The steering is p e r f e c t. Don’t feel that it is electric. Very direct and very responsive. My E90 has KW clubsports and this car feels amazing in comparison. I am very happy. It is not diluted. Bmw got this steering feel right.”

– “Coming from an M6, this torque curve is very impressive. It is easy even during break in. Lots of torque and pull at 4000 and below. I went to drive the E90 M3 and that car sounds like angry bees and the throttle is super sharp in comparison. But, the F80 is sharp for a turbo.”

– “I need to drive my 1M, but this car is special. Best M3 I had so far. I think that I have a new favourite M engine.”

So there you have it; a first take on the 2015 M3 from a BMW fan / owner.
