Set to make its debut at the Beijing auto show, the new Ford Escort that revives the old nameplate looks like it will be nearly identical to the concept that previewed it. Looking at these low quality spy shots from China, it looks like all it lost are the swanky LED headlights and the flush door handles that have been replaced with more prodtruding ones.

The actual body shell is probably identical, though, and LED headlights may still be offered on higher trim levels of the car, since Ford is already lagging behind in this area and the fact that they used them on the concept does show intent.

It’s a stylish, if a bit simple entry by Ford into the affordable but not ridiculously small sedan sector. Their reviving of the name will also help this new model gain significance in the eyes of those who know the brand’s recent history, though it really has nothing to do with the previous Escort other than the name.
