Watching the dashcam clip, it looks like a laughable special effects effort from a Flash Gordon-style 1980s B-movie, but this scene is real and it reportedly happened somewhere in China.

The car with the driver inside was parked on the side of the road when lightning struck down a tree (don’t worry, we won’t ruin the suspense by disclosing the moment it does on the video, just brace yourself for the sound…), chopping it in half.

From what we understand, the tree narrowly missed or just scrapped the front bumper of the vehicle that had its dashboard camera rolling the entire time. See for yourself in the video below.
