While nowhere near as predictable as when the German companies try to style a car, the design effort behind the Land Rover Discovery Vision concept could have been foretold if somebody would have told us beforehand that it was going to look like a Range Rover

If it’s a sign of future Land Rovers to come (and it is), then we’re going to have an entire sub-brand of handsome SUVs to write things about… In total, it will spawn three or four vehicles at first, one of which will be a direct replacement to the current seven-seater Discovery, while another will take the spot of the Freelander and be called Discovery Sport.

Aside from the design, the Vision concept is also a showcase for technology. It “previews future Terrain Response system with Remote Control Drive, Laser Terrain Scanning and Transparent Bonnet head-up display” and “fold-and-slide configurable seating system for seven people, deployable event platform and social bench.”

All of which should make it pretty cool in anybody’s book – let’s just hope they don’t overdo the toning down for production thing that plagues the industry these days…
