The Chinese obsession with rear legroom and generally vehicles of large dimensions will now also be correlated with excellent fuel efficiency, thanks to the new Range Rover Long Wheelbase (diesel) Hybrid.

It features the longer body of the now familiar LWB Range and mates it with the firm’s new diesel-electric setup, bearing the promise of 44.1 mpg UK or 6.4 l/100km.

A hugely impressive number for a vehicle that can go pretty much anywhere, while at the same time offering the option of rear seats whose seatbacks can recline up to 17 degree.

The powertrain features a 3.0-liter V6 diesel/electric motor combo inbuilt into the eight-speed ZF autobox. Power is rated at 337 hp, with 48 hp and (170 Nm/125 lb-ft) coming from the latter out of the total 700 Nm or 516 lb-ft.

If all of this, plus the usual Range Rover goodness is appealing to you, get your checkbooks ready as “global order books will open in May and first deliveries to customers in China are expected from the end of the year.”
